Denmark's Savage Rose recorded a wealth of intriguing and eclectic progressive rock in the late '60s and '70s. Now 5 years later, they’ve become a manor distillery with apple orchards and access to raw materials from land that has been organic since 1967.
The owners of Nyborg Distillery, father Niels and son Nicolai Rømer, are well-known pioneers of organic products in Denmark and own several other organic businesses. Æblerov makes real cider from spontaneously fermented must from organic apples, with no added yeasts, and little to no filtration. Unlike other cider makers, they use mainly household Danish apple varieties together with a couple of cider-specific sorts, all grown locally. The company is based in To Øl City - come experience them on their home court.
Solhøj started in 2016 by cider maker, home brewer and artist - Martin Bech-Ravn. Solhøi naturally makes wild-fermented cider, from the best Norwegian apples. Karl Sjöström and Mikael Nypelius decided to challenge the way we perceive wine and cider in the Nordics. Inspired by forward thinking friends, cider and natural wine producers, they went foraging for apples, pears, grapes and basically everything they could ferment into something drinkable. In 2016 they started out with a small 3000 bottle production at Hällåkra vineyard, and today they produce over 80.000 bottles a year in central Malmö.
